WELCOME TO CLUB DSM SOUTHWEST!
What is Club DSM Southwest?
Club DSM Southwest is a regional chapter of an international Internet-based car club (Club DSM ). The Southwest chapter consists of members in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah who have one thing in common: we love our cars. We communicate daily on our email discussion list (click the YahooGroups link on the HOME page). We gather formally and informally throughout the year to race, hang out, or work on or modify our cars and help each other out. Discussion topics include everything from troubleshooting, modding, referrals, war stories, and just about anything else DSM related. We're even privy to discounts on parts at certain vendors.
Club DSM Southwest is run by its members with no formal leadership. This means that anyone anywhere can contribute to the club and organize and hold events, or contribute to the website.
What is a DSM?
DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors. It is the name given for the joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi that created the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser between 1990 and 1999. Because the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 contains the same 4G63 engine, we also include it in our club. The 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution (EVO) comes with a version of the 4G63 drive train, so EVO owners are welcome to participate in club events and discussions so that we can all share parts and learn how to make the most of our cars!
Is a 3G Eclipse a DSM?
Not really. The 3G Eclipse (model year 2000+) was completely redesigned from the first two generations, the partnership with Chrysler is no longer there, and they took away our beloved turbo. Although we would like to include 3G in our club, our focus and our expertise lies with 1G and 2G DSM. We have nothing in common but the name plate, therefore we feel it would be of little benefit to either group to dilute the purpose of this club.
How Do I Join?
First of all, it's completely free. To be "in the know" for events, you should join our YahooGroups email discussion list (there's a link on the main page). This is how we communicate. Once you join this, you will be plugged in to our club and you can add yourself to our members database (click on the Members link on the left). Also, join us at one of our events shown on the main page! Hope to see you there!
